Idea was to explore if dynamic animated illustration can substitute photography on a travel-related website. For travel sites, best practice is to always use photography – the idea behind this is quite obvious, photography helps potential customers better envision their future trips and adventures.
However, what may work for a single property hotel website and for big brand hotel chain websites may not work for travel OTA such as Booking.Com. The hypothesis is pretty simple – see if illustration can tell the story and sell travel experience better then photography.
